Are You Believing a BIG LIE?

Adolf Hitler convinced the German people they could rebuild their country and establish a superior race by propagating a lie and implementing the most horrendous holocaust in history. His wicked goal was to exterminate a race of people. How did he convince an entire nation to violate their consciences and watch evil march through their society? In Hitler's own words, we find the answer, "If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed."

Satan is a lot like Adolf Hitler; he is known as the father of lies. He feeds his victims propaganda which keeps them lost, sick and captive. There is always a bit of truth entwined with the lie. His favorite tools are the big lies because they have the potential to produce mass destruction in your life.

If you will believe the big lie that God doesn't exist, Satan has you right where he wants you. When you don't believe in God's existence, Satan doesn't have to use any of his limited resources to keep you lodged in his web. The big lie tempts you with some truth to lure you into pandering to your flesh, to your need for control, and to your need for safety. How do we dislodge this lie?

First, God is able to reveal himself to people. In addition, I believe that creation itself testifies to the existence of a Creator as described in Genesis. When we stand before Him, we will be without excuse because He put such overwhelming evidence all around us in nature and in the sky. This is good news if we look for the truth. This is bad news if we believe the big lie.

"God’s eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all he has made. That’s why those people don’t have any excuse."

Romans 1:20 CEV

Nature testifies to God's eternal qualities and creative power. Breathing in the fresh mountain air and gulping the sparkling spring water reveals His provision. Watching shooting stars calls forth the breath of eternity God put within us. Observing a baby foal drink from his mother's udder provokes a response of timeless wonder at the beauty of life which God spoke into existence. Even the complexities of the Earth's ecosystems and the vastness of the Milky Way illustrate the Lord's unlimited knowledge and wisdom.

The truth is God exists. He wants to know you in a deeply intimate and personal way. I encourage you to take some time to acknowledge Him today. Thank Him for all of the beauty He created for you to enjoy. Ask Him to reveal himself in a greater way. He knows your name.

With much love,

Julie
